Looking Up in 2021, A New Perspective

Happy New Year! 2021 is here!  I can’t believe another year has gone by.  2020 was full of many events occurring.  There were lots of challenges, especially with COVID-19.  It’s how we deal with the challenges that make us stronger.  After facing the challenges in 2020, I can say that 2021 will be a better year.  It’s all about growth and seeing things differently and learning from the past.  Here are some things that I will commit to in 2021.  I will try to write a blog for at least once a month with tips and tricks in the classroom.  It has been a different year teaching in the 2020-21 school year.

The biggest advice I can give about teaching online this year is that building a positive rapport, being flexible, and keeping up with communication has been key to finishing out the first part of the school year (even though it’s not over yet).  Teachers, staff, and students have been dealing with the virus infection all year long.  Here are some suggestions on how to deal with some of the challenges in 2021.

  1. Stay positive.  It’s a new year, and we only have better things to look forward to especially with the vaccination in progress.
  2. Stay flexible.  There will still be a lot of changes as we finish the second half of the school year.  COVID-19 is not gone yet so we still need to be as flexible as possible.
  3. Build relationships with whomever you are with.  It is very important to support each other, whether it be students, staff, or teachers.
